Praise in this Storm

We just received some very encouraging news about an hour ago from the bone marrow doctor’s assistant. She told us that they have found 2 ‘chord blood’ matches for Dylan for bone marrow transplant, etc. Next Wednesday, we are meeting with Dr. Graham, who is the bone marrow specialist from the UA medical center in Tucson. He will give us all the details at that time. Please pray that God will give wisdom, that Dylan’s body will be able to fight off any infection, and that either chemo can be started again soon or that the bone marrow transplant can happen quickly. Also, please pray this week that Dylan's neutraphils will increase so his white blood count can get out of the 'scary low level' and get to more acceptable levels.

  1. Hi Michelle and Erik,
My name is Michele Schweig and I go to Parkway Church and heard about Dylan from Michelle Brott. I just wanted to share with you that 8 years ago, my husband (Eric...isn't that funny?) and I had a very sick baby named Faith. She was born with a rare genetic disorder called SLO. We basically lived at the hospital with her for 3 months. So, looking at your blog, pictures, video and reading your entries really struck a cord with me. I know some of the feelings that go along with having a sick baby and I want to commend you on being so strong. God has a way of giving us the strength we need, although sometimes we feel like we can't take anymore...and then the next day, we feel renewed again. It's definitely a "roller coaster" like you said and it just never stops.
I guess life is that way, though, isn't it?
Anyhow, I hope by messages like this, you know that you are not alone out there.
Stay strong, lean on your faith and take help from family and friends that offer it to you. (that's one huge lesson I learned from our experiences) and if you ever want to get in touch with me, my email is
    I also live in Surprise.

  2. We are so thankful for your faith... it is blessing us as we bathe your little family in prayer.
    Love, Mark & Debbie Hardin

  3. Hi Michelle, Erik & Baby Dylan,
I just wanted to let you all know what an encouragement your faith has been to all of us here at West Valley. I picked up my bracelet on Sunday and have committed to pray for all of you each and every day. I am praying that God will continue to give you the strength you both need as Dylan's parents, the wisdom needed by the doctors to treat him successfully and the cure that will bring baby Dylan home so that we can all get to see him again!! He is a beautiful little boy and we miss seeing all of you on Sunday mornings!! Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you!!
Please let me know the best way to send a contribution toward Baby Dylan's treatments and any other way that I might be able to help!!
    Your friend in Christ,
    Julie Philipps (Eric's mom)
