.....Some GREAT News!!

First of all, yesterday just plain stunk. It was an incredibly long (started at 4am with a starving baby) and tiring day and little Dylan was not feeling well at all. After Dylan got out of anesthesia the second time around 6, he was in a lot of pain. Sometimes the radiation causes swelling of the glands and he also had a tube down his throat twice--so between the two, he was not a happy camper. After hours of cuddling and some morphine, he was finally able to go to sleep comfortably. I was beyond frustrated because as a mom, I could not do anything to make him feel better, and I knew that he would have to do the same thing the next day--a hard reality to face! After some crying, praying, and encouragement from friends and family, I was able to calm down and get some sleep :) Thankfully, my amazing hubby was here with me the entire day and we were able to lean on each other throughout the day. We also became a little delirious around 5pm due to all of the stress and ended up being a tad bit goofy and were able to have some laughs! Thank you Lord for the laughs! We definitely needed them.
Today's radiation sessions went a little bit better. They did not take as long to get everything together and we did not have to wait in the waiting room forever. Dylan is in good spirits tonight and also eating!! We are very thankful that we are not having a repeat of last night!!
NOW FOR THE GREAT NEWS!!
Dr. Graham has been consulting with numerous specialists and actually contacted a transplant specialist from Europe. After discussing Dylan's situation with him, they came up with a compromise on the treatment, and hopefully a solution that works!! Dr. Graham has decided to STOP the radiation (YAY!!!!) and only do half of the originally planned dose!! So radiation is OVER!!! (at least that is the new plan) We were very excited to get that news today!! In lieu of the radiation, they are going to do some different types of chemo medicines with at least one more spinal tap. Since the plans have changed today, we do not have a set schedule yet--but he will be starting on chemo tomorrow to get ready for transplant. His actual transplant date was set for Friday, September 11Th, but it will probably be sooner now due to the changes. We will be sure to keep you informed!! Thank you to everyone for your encouraging emails, text messages, voice mails, and facebook messages!! We appreciate them more than you can ever know!!

I'm sure you have your moments, but you always bring it back to him. Jesus has Dylan in his hands, I know that for sure!
